I get it, and it's the right call for the kids' safety, but it's kind of sad. The education system is already a mess, and now there are even fewer days to learn.

If hard candy goes to 3 for 5 pesos, you know the economy is wrecked.

$100? PASS!!
Why would you take out a bank loan in the Philippines? Loans in the Philippines are predatory and the interest is huge.

OMG.. sorry if this sounds like an old-timer talking (I'm a millennial myself) It's all because of social media (viral, brain-rotting, pointless content). Those kids think stuff like that is cool. Think about it, the education level here is already rock bottom, and then the environment is like that too. I grew up in public school myself, but this is truly disgusting.

How do I get to Red Street from this hotel?

That punk got beaten by a fish in likes lol
Foreigners didn't come all the way to the South Pacific to meet people. They came to get away from the people where they came from.

It's the Christmas season and people are getting desperate. More crimes will happen.

I filed complaints with the barangay several times and nothing was done, so I bought a Ninja with a racing muffler on a straight-through exhaust. Now I ride past that barangay office several times a day at low speed and high RPM. Vroom vroom
Come to Tarlac City. The new airport in Clark is close, and it's a middle-class area with friendly, chatty locals. Good housing, good private schools, and good healthcare with doctors from St. Luke's in Manila. I settled here 10 years ago and I'm very happy. P.S. The newly opened S&R membership store is a reason in itself. It's not owned by Costco in the US, it's an affiliate, and it sells premium fresh steaks and beer at some of the cheapest prices in the area.

Good info on motorbike rentals, thanks for the video 😎
I only carry my passport when I'm entering or leaving the country or renewing my visa. I always carry my driver's license and my ACR card.
I eat similarly. Chicken and rice. Ground beef and rice. Tuna. Corned beef actually has a decent nutritional profile too. Eggs. Cheese. Greek yogurt. Vegetables. No alcohol, no smoking. I only eat out rarely and for a reason, and even then I stick to basic food.
I really love watching animals play.
In 2022 there was the option of an economist, and they seated a dropout instead.

Don't just complain, build something that protects you from it. Whether it's solar, a battery backup system (I have a whole-house one), or a backup generator.

Awesome.. If I ran into this in the dark, tired and drunk, I'd be genuinely terrified
If you want to hang out with people from your own country, why even come to the Philippines? You're surrounded by them already! I've traveled to more than 20 countries and have been settled in the Philippines for over 10 years. I traveled to learn new customs, meet new people, and enjoy new cultures. I do have a few expat acquaintances here, but we don't hang out together. When we meet at the HOA, we talk about local things like a newly discovered beach or a new restaurant, not politics or the problems of the old country we left behind. That's what I came here to get away from. The Philippines is a beautiful place. I hope you'll treat it as a new experience, learn the customs and culture, and meet lots of locals so you can blend into local life. You'll never forget it!
Last week the ACR-I cost 3188 pesos ($50), plus 1000 pesos for the express lane.
