If you've been in the Philippines for more than 6 months, it means an NBI certificate.

Is this a joke? You want American/European men who went to the Philippines to date European/American women like yourself? Sorry to say it, but people like you are exactly why those guys are there in the first place.

I was born here. Such a peaceful and beautiful place. Someday, Lord willing, I plan to retire there and continue the mission work :)
That's because your sister-in-law buys cheap junk. You get what you pay for.
It's the kind of moment where if you hear a weird sound at night, you make an even weirder sound to take control of the situation.

Go to a hospital, they have doctors
Go to a mall. Plenty of choices, and they take credit cards

I don't know about that, but as a Christian, I'd rather live in Cebu or Davao (not on the list) than in Muscat, Oman.
Clark Airport is right next to Angeles City, about a 1.5 to 2 hour drive from Manila with traffic.
I'm just relaxing here in the West Philippine Sea, and when Taiwan gets invaded, I'll start taking Chinese classes.
When I was 9, my family went to the Grand Canyon. A foot or two past the lookout there was a tall rock pillar covered in coins. I asked my dad to hold my hand so I could climb over the railing, cross the gap, and go up on that rock to pick up the coins. Dad said it was way too dangerous. I said I'd be careful! Dad looked me straight in the eyes and said, "That guy said the same thing last time." Nine-year-old me believed he was serious and my head went blank. Every time Dad tells this story, my eyes get really wide and I supposedly say, "Seriously!?" I still remember the shock and fear I felt as a kid, imagining someone saying "I'll be careful ooooooo..." and then falling to their death before they could finish the sentence.

Even if it passes, kids will just get around it. Australia banned social media for younger teens too, and kids are using VPNs and lying about their birthdays and doing just fine. It's nothing new. When I was 15, I clicked "Yes, I'm 18 or older" on Hub. No matter how hard companies try to block it, it's pointless these days.
You don't need to register at any local barangay. Someone gave you wrong info. Please don't hand out any important information about yourself... and never put your name or signature on any documents.
Bank of America and Wells Fargo are the two worst banks ever.

In our neighborhood there's a broom guy and a wooden spoon-carving guy. I've never seen a basket guy around here though.
I'd recommend keeping several US bank accounts. When you live abroad, redundancy is key. Banking and phones are your lifelines, so have backups for both. NFCU and USAA are fine as backups but not great as your main way to withdraw from ATMs. At first I'd open a Charles Schwab checking account and use its ATM card as your primary. Going one step further, also open a Fidelity cash management account as an ATM backup, or rotate between the two. I wouldn't have any direct deposits go into a Philippine bank account. Having a PH account is fine, but only move money into it as needed. That's how I use BDO, mostly for ATM withdrawals, and I like walking into the bank and getting a lot of small bills at once. For those recommending NFCU or USAA: NFCU charges a $1 fee plus 1%, and USAA charges just the 1%. That's separate from the ATM fees. Only the ATM fees are refunded, not the 1%. So if you withdraw $500, you don't get that $5 back. Not a big deal for many people, but it's there. Their credit cards have no foreign fees, but they aren't my go-to cards. In the end, my NFCU and USAA accounts are all backups. I keep small balances and use them now and then so they don't go dormant.
