I'm packing the essentials to bring to the Philippines as we move into our new house. Does customs restrict expats from bringing in a US-made weed whacker or gas-powered garden tools? My sister-in-law says the Chinese-made garden tools sold locally break easily. She bought a weed whacker and it broke after just a few months.

That's because your sister-in-law buys cheap junk. You get what you pay for.

The problem is Lazada and Shopee let sellers sell fakes on their platforms... if it says Honda and it's half price, it's a Chinese-made fake

Whichever way you go, make sure there's no gas anywhere in the machine, the tank, the carburetor,... Not even fumes!

Just buy locally

You'll find there are lots of good-quality tools for CHEAP in the Philippines. I hate that they're not available in the States.
