What I saw on X today
I don't know about that, but as a Christian, I'd rather live in Cebu or Davao (not on the list) than in Muscat, Oman.
This data seems outdated or just wrong. Abu Dhabi and Dubai should be more expensive, and Singapore has a much better quality of life than both. Pattaya's ranking is roughly right, though. I know all these cities well. There's a big problem this chart doesn't address. In some cities, essential costs like housing, utilities, and mobile data are expensive, and you can't avoid them. Singapore and Dubai are exactly like that. In other countries, the baseline for essential costs is much lower, so spending more is a choice. Pattaya is one of those. You can buy a brand-new condo for about the price of one year's rent in Singapore. So the 'expensive' axis is very subjective, and quality of life depends a lot on what you want.
Thanks for sharing. I'm 58 and widowed. Last year, in June and December 2025, I went to the Philippines twice to see if I could retire there, and I don't think the Philippines is for me. I do nothing all day and don't know what to do with myself.
Apart from a few countries and cities, quality of life is great as long as you have money.
