I've been here since February this year. I need to go back to the US for about a week. When I return, can I convert my US license to a Philippine license?

Looks like Annabelle is all set to sleep peacefully 😂

I'm thinking of moving to the Philippines very soon, around the end of February. I'm looking at Makati, BGC, or Cebu City. Could you give me some advice on how to make this dream come true?

8-Month-Old Twins Sold Twice in Candaba, Pampanga Rescued — Buyer Arrested

📌 On Sunday, October 25, the Southern Police District (SPD) rescued 8-month-old twins in Candaba, Pampanga, who had been sold by their biological mother and then resold. The buyer in Candaba who bought the twins and the woman in Baler, Aurora who had bought them earlier were arrested, and police are preparing to file human trafficking charges.

■ Background of the Case
· The twins' maternal grandmother, who had been taking care of the twins from Taguig, Metro Manila, learned that her daughter (the twins' biological mother) had sold the children and asked the police for help. The twins had been reported missing since August.
· The biological mother is believed to have handed the twins over to a woman in Baler, Aurora for 27,000 pesos.
· That woman is suspected of reselling the twins through an online transaction to a buyer in Candaba for 30,000 pesos. Reports differ on who the Candaba buyer was — "a couple who could not have children" (Philstar), "two women" (The Manila Times).

■ Investigation and Current Status
· The 36-year-old woman who first bought the twins was arrested earlier in Aurora. Reports differ on the date police found her — October 19 (Philstar), October 21 (GMA News). Two unrelated children were also found at her home.
· Police believe this woman had been selling babies to people unable to have children, and plan to check whether there were other transactions using her confiscated cellphone.
· The twins have been placed in the care of a government social welfare officer and will be returned to their family once the procedures are completed. Police are considering whether to hold the biological mother accountable as well.

■ Notice for Residents and Travelers
· The Taguig police chief warned that "informal adoption" deals are taking place on social media these days. Handing over a child in exchange for money is the crime of human trafficking.
· If you see an offer to adopt or buy a baby online, do not respond, and report it to the police or the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Is it possible for an American to own a business in the Philippines?
Hello everyone! I'm an American planning to move to the Philippines. My second visit is coming up in the next few months. Does anyone know the rules and regulations for foreigners owning a business or a shop? I know you can't own land or a house without citizenship. Is there a way around that for a business?

Hello, I have a question about the SRRV and the outbound (30-day) flight ticket.
We're planning to go back in March to get our SRRV and stay for 7 weeks.

We've already booked a round-trip ticket for that time, but do we also need a separate throwaway outbound ticket for after the 30 days?

Thank you

Filipinos demand that "Van Boys," accused of disrespecting Filipino women, be declared persona non grata

Making content about the Philippines and its islands while disrespecting the very people who welcomed you? That's where the line is crossed.

Van Boys is under fire over how he treats Filipino women.

His content centers on the Philippines' beach life, party culture, and interactions with local women, turning island life into views and money.

Now people are questioning allegations that he has belittled the very women and local communities who make his content possible, even as he makes a living off this country and its people.

More Filipinos are condemning Van Boys, including Siargao local Maria Lalaine Tocong, who spoke out against influencers who disrespect the island and its people.

She urged authorities to look into the matter and reminded visitors that Siargao and the Philippines are not content for views but places where real communities live.

Tourism must not come at the expense of our dignity. If you benefit from being welcomed into our home, you should at least show respect •

Sharing some drawings of people we see every day but barely notice

We pass by people like this every day, but we never really stop to think about what life feels like from their side

I wanted to capture the exhaustion of their work and the repetitiveness of their daily routine. The long hours, the waiting, the traffic jams, the feeling of just getting through another day.
I worked as a delivery rider for about 6 months, so I tried to put a little of that feeling into my work. Not just plain physical tiredness, but the kind of exhaustion where every day feels the same, yet you keep going because you have to
These drawings aren't meant to make fun of them. I just wanted to show the hardship of people we see all the time but never really notice

Just one left now.

Becoming a Level 9 Elder.

I need to rack up 10,000 points lol

It's not going to happen this year, so my goal is to reach it sometime in the first half of next year.

I hear Elder members get a title as a perk, but I don't know what it is.

I never got the Senior Elder perk either.

I heard Level 10 comes with a Legend title and a special border

and I want to get that one.

Setting posts in concrete

I keep hearing conflicting information about how to keep a Canadian phone number for banking.

I currently live in Saskatchewan and have a phone that supports dual eSIM.

My current plan is with Sasktel.

How did everyone switch over, and which carrier are you using?

Thanks, everyone…

I'm traveling to Thailand with my Filipina girlfriend.

Please let me know if I'm missing anything important!
This is my first trip to Thailand, and I'm going with my girlfriend. We've been in a long-distance relationship for 5 years, and she has been working in Jordan for the past 2 years. We're going to meet in Manila before heading to Thailand.

We've spent time together in the Philippines five times, so we have a history together.
Everything is cancellable except for the flight tickets and the first hotel, just in case we get really unlucky and my girlfriend isn't allowed to leave the country.

I've printed out all the documents and put them in a folder: flight tickets, hotels, travel insurance, sponsorship letter, itinerary, photos of the two of us together, and my girlfriend's bank certificate. We've also paid the travel tax.

All hotels/Airbnbs are booked under both of our names.

Has anyone been through this and can tell me what they ask at departure and what documents are needed?
Thank you

In my family, holding out your hand and asking for money is shameful..

Reading the stories posted here about family members who act like they're entitled to it makes me so angry, more than I probably should be.

That's your wife?!? If a man is fulfilling his duty, shouldn't the wife's top responsibility and focus be her husband?

My parents' country went through a terrible war right before the two of them were born. Everyone worked themselves to the bone and made it, and plenty of them became millionaires. I don't think the extreme of never helping at all is good either, but I really wish some men would get it together and stop with the coward-pack behavior.

I'd rather be homeless than expect money as a given and shame my family. And my family is a dysfunctional mess that puts money and status above everything else. Even so, we're not the whiny "entitled" type I read about here every day. That kind of behavior is truly pathetic, selfish, and shameless.

I'm in awe watching this boat being built at ALU Porter Craft in Liloan, Cebu. The welders are the best, true craftsmen. I think we'll be able to do the sea trial in about 6 weeks. The shipyard has taken great care of us from start to finish, and working with them has been a real pleasure. They've thought of everything, from putting a flush toilet inside the center console to a freshwater wash-down system to making the boat accessible for people with disabilities (PWD). I've always loved offshore fishing 🎣, and I decided to take on this challenge because I wanted it to have a bigger purpose than just doing something for my own enjoyment. My daughter is a person with a disability (PWD), and when she was little, there was a farm that gave children with disabilities horseback rides as a form of therapy. So a few months ago I made up my mind: I want to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities and their families here in the Philippines 🇵🇭. What better way than sharing something I love? So I bought 6 Daiwa Seapower 1200 reels, so that kids can reel in almost any fish, even ones over 80 pounds, just by turning a small lever. I hope it becomes a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the children and their families. And I get to do what I love too ❤️

Has anyone booked a room at GO HOTEL in Tacloban?
