New Clark City Water and Sewerage Project Going to Maynilad-K-Water — Clark Hangar Investment Also in the Works
📌 On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said it is preparing to award the PHP 14.8 billion water and sewerage project in New Clark City, Tarlac, to a consortium of Maynilad and Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water). The same day, it also revealed a plan by a European aviation company to build a hangar complex in Clark.
■ What's changing
· According to BusinessMirror, no competing proposals from other companies (Swiss challenge) came in for this project, which K-Water proposed in February, so the original proponent, the Maynilad-K-Water consortium, is expected to get it.
· The plan is to supply 150 million to 200 million liters of water per day, and surplus water can also be sent to other areas. The joint venture term is 25 years, with an option to extend for another 25 years.
· BCDA President Joshua Bingcang said the award will be made as soon as possible once the remaining procedures are completed. No timeline for the start of construction or water supply was given.
· Clark hangar: A European aviation company whose name has not been disclosed is discussing a long-term lease (over 25 years) to build a hangar complex on about 40 hectares next to the FedEx facility in Clark. The investment amount differs by report: at least USD 50 million according to the Daily Tribune, and about USD 40 million according to BusinessMirror.
■ Tips for residents and travelers
· If you live in or plan to do business around New Clark City, it's worth watching whether a water supply schedule gets set. Water rates and connection timing have not been announced yet.
