Don't assume you're always being ripped off because you're a foreigner. That's a reasonable price, cheap even. You got a good deal.

I think it's more of a teenager thing than a Filipino thing.
You almost lost your soul over that 😭
Same advice as for anyone looking for friends. Pick up a social hobby or activity and start talking to people. If the people there are too old, be friendly with them anyway, tell them you're looking for friends around your age, and ask for their advice.
A lot of foreigners use Popcorn. It gets good reviews. Sure, you pay $69 a month, but you get unlimited 4G/5G data through Smart or Globe towers and you keep your US number. Calls to the US are free. Those of us on a budget use Tello for $12.50 (or less) for calls and texts over Wi-Fi. Calls to the US are free, but you have to be on Wi-Fi. In Tello's defense, a lot of us also put a Smart or Globe eSIM on our phones (a carrier-unlocked phone with two eSIMs). The Smart or Globe eSIM handles data. You save a few hundred dollars a year compared with Popcorn. It's a lifestyle choice.
You crazy bastard, you blew it all up!
It's a Spanish word
Why not just keep a US account and move the money through a remittance site?
Honda Accord-ion
Sadly, there seems to be some truth to this. It looks to me like there's a kind of 'degree inflation' going on here. In the UK you need a degree to get a professional job. But here even waitresses and construction workers seem to need one. I don't get what's driving it 🤷♂️ Education for education's sake. Doesn't make sense, does it??
Quite, They're not sucking old rotten wieners because they enjoy it.
Haha! Your heart could get "arrested" by a heart attack.
It's not normal. Usually it means they really don't approve of the relationship in some way. And it's serious. Normally they'd at least be polite.
* The past presence rule: to claim Attendance Allowance, the UK Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) requires you to have actually been in the UK for at least 2 of the last 3 years (104 of 156 weeks) and to be 'habitually resident' in the UK. * Moving to a non-EEA country (like the Philippines): you can't claim Attendance Allowance long-term while living permanently in the Philippines. It only continues during temporary absences (up to 13 weeks, or 26 weeks for specific medical treatment). * The common misconception: some UK retirees confuse moving to the Philippines with moving to an EU/EEA country (where pre-Brexit rules or certain bilateral social security agreements sometimes let you receive some sickness benefits abroad). The Philippines has no such reciprocal benefit agreement with the UK, so living there makes you ineligible for Attendance Allowance.
I'd definitely have done this to my wife. And she'd have punched me.

What is this nonsense? (Again)
Where are you from, anyway? The US visa is 29 days and can be extended for up to 3 years.
To be fair, that does look like it'd be the worst thing to clean up in this aisle, at least 😅

Here's my honest take. These are just personal opinions from living here. I'd probably skip Manila. Nothing against Manila, but unless you're in Makati, Eastwood/Libis, BGC or one of the other decent areas, it's just not for me. That said, if you stay inside your own neighborhood and mostly walk, it can work. If you're a bit older or close to retirement, I'd look at Davao City, especially around Lanang or the Ayala mall areas, plus some of the new developments going up. You still get the BPO and business infrastructure, but it feels smaller and less hectic. Cebu City is probably the middle ground. IT Park if you're young, work online and like places staying open late with people around. Business Park if you mostly stay in at night and just need a solid base for work and business. And if you don't mind the odd goat wandering around and want a mix of beaches and resorts, Lapu-Lapu is where I settled. I get to the airport in 15 to 20 minutes, I walk to almost everything I need, and the beaches and resorts are close by. For me it's probably the best work-life balance of the lot.
Just block her and never give her another thought. It's not your problem.
