There should have been an 'Other' option too.
There should have been an 'Other' option too.
Posts like this make me realize how many people have never had to live in survival mode.
Meant to do that!
At 70, the best move is just to rent when you come to the Philippines. No need to worry about upkeep. If you were a lot younger, like in your early 60s, buying would make some sense

I've had the sisig, a really tasty and filling meal.
Phones are a big cause, but in my experience it's far more often a group of family or friends walking five abreast who couldn't care less that they're in everyone's way. I don't say anything confrontational, but I don't make myself smaller and I don't step aside. Funny thing is, I've spent quite a while in Japan and it's even worse there. People are even more glued to their phones and completely oblivious when they walk. Sidewalks and train stations are total chaos, and then you add bicycles to the mix. For a society that puts so much weight on rules and norms, it feels contradictory.
Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity (https://youtu.be/4JkIs37a2JE?is=viufAV0ybGW65fbO) Seriously great music video

That’s one tall dog. Must be all the sandwiches.

Filipino here. Never take a taxi, they'll charge you outrageous fares. Always use Grab
An expat lives outside their home country, often temporarily, while an immigrant moves to another country to settle. Tourists get a non-immigrant visa, so legally they're non-immigrants. That's why the term expat is appropriate.
A Philippine lawyer won't help you here. Since you're marrying under Utah jurisdiction, you need a US attorney to draft a US prenup. A Philippine prenup governs the Philippine marital property regime, but it doesn't cover US assets or divorce scenarios. On top of that, for a US prenup to hold up, your partner usually needs her own independent US lawyer to review the document (which you can pay for). You said elsewhere that you can't afford a US attorney, but I'd argue you can't afford not to have one, unless you just want to go into the marriage without a prenup and hope for the best.

You guys aren't reading the post properly. This person is already here in the Philippines and is learning the hard way. The options you're suggesting won't work for them because they're in the Philippines now and can't activate on a US tower. The best thing I can suggest is to have a friend or family member in the US activate a Tello SIM card and mail it over.
Alaminos is close by. They have good longganisa.
Wtf 🤣 are you sure he's not your boyfriend's sugar daddy?

I didn't know snails were hermaphrodites.
I've always wondered why parents dress identical twins in identical clothes. Isn't that choosing to play on hard mode? Isn't identity confusion a real concern? Or is this another one of those things I saw on Full House that doesn't apply to real life?
I've got maid's quarters and a dirty kitchen. Depending on age and looks, it could turn into 24/7 volunteer work with benefits.
'Nothing to lose' doesn't even have to be a factor. People all over the world die in drunk fights like this all the time. The headline could just as easily have been 'American expat kills local in drunk bar fight.'
Siargao is really expensive. A single T-shirt starts at 500
