I went to the Bureau of Immigration this morning…..
I talked with the female staff member who handled my interview. I thanked her for helping me a few months ago when I transferred my entry stamp to my new passport.
I asked her directly whether people like me who are staying on a tourist visa (up to 36 months) have anything to worry about.
Her answer was roughly this: as long as you have a good reputation and good character and your name isn't in the blacklist 📕, there's nothing to worry about.
Isn't it easier to do everything online now? Compared to going all the way to the immigration office in Manila?
I had to extend my visitor visa while waiting for the marriage visa application process, and I was never interviewed by anyone. I think this is nonsense and clickbait.
If you want to live happily in the Philippines, never talk about politics or religion 😎🤫
My passport expires early next year, so I went to the SM North EDSA immigration office to get my arrival stamp transferred to the new passport, but they said that can only be handled at the main office in Manila. I've kept doing my tourist visa extensions there this year, because it's not a mess like the main office in Manila. Also, there's an immigration counter at the government services desk on the 3rd floor of NAIA Terminal 3, where you can get an additional 30-day extension on top of the 30-day visa-free stay you get on arrival.
