What apps are good or useful to have in the Philippines?
In Thailand, I can handle almost everything with something like Grab....
What about a "payment" app or any other apps worth using??
Thank you
Many people said GCash or Maya QR is the most common way to pay, and that they use Grab for getting around and for deliveries. For sending money overseas, people mentioned Wise or Remitly, and some said Maxim or inDrive work better in certain areas. There was also advice to bring cash, since some places lose signal or don't have change.
The most common payment methods in the Philippines are GCash or Maya QR codes. Still, it's a good idea to carry some cash. The mobile signal these apps rely on isn't always stable. You should have cash as a backup for when the GCash or Maya app becomes unusable because the signal drops.
Grab works in most parts of the Philippines. Maxim also works in some places where Grab doesn't. I've never used a payment app separately. Cash is king in the Philippines, and bring small bills if you can. Especially outside big cities, some places don't have change for a 1000 peso bill.
- Green GSM (ride hailing) - Lalamove (package delivery within Metro Manila) - Klook (eSIM, tours, hotels, etc.) - Grab (ride hailing, food delivery, grocery shopping) - Food Panda (food & groceries) - Lazada, Tiktok, Shopee, Zalora, iHerb, Amazon, Pickaroo, Builtamart (shopping apps) - Viber (a messenger like iMessage, widely used by Filipinos) - Maya & GCash (online wallets) - BPI (bank app) I forgot the rest. Most of the apps I mentioned work very well in major cities like Metro Manila/NCR and Metro Cebu. Also, food apps are usually better value. Think Shakey's, McDonald's, KFC and the like. Getting a Philippine SIM is best (check Klook)
