Level 3 Fire in Barangay 91, Tondo, Manila at Dawn — Hundreds of Residents Lose Their Homes

📌 In the early morning of Saturday, November 7, a third-alarm fire broke out in the Tioco Riverside residential area of Barangay 91 in Tondo, Manila, leaving 60 to 140 households homeless (figures vary by report). No casualties have been reported.

■ What Happened
· According to GMA, the first alarm was raised at 3:31 a.m., the second at 3:42 a.m., and the third at 3:52 a.m. The fire was brought under control at 4:57 a.m. and fully put out at 6:09 a.m. (Manila Bulletin reported that it started at 3:36 a.m. and was extinguished at 6:10 a.m.).
· The scale of the damage varies by report. GMA reported 60 households and up to 25 houses, while Manila Bulletin first reported 60 households (180 people) and 25 structures, then revised that to 140 households (450 people) and 70 structures.
· A classroom at a nearby school was also damaged (GMA). Most of the houses were built with light materials, so the fire spread quickly, and the nearby river and strong winds made it hard to put out.

■ Investigation and Current Status
· The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is investigating the cause of the fire.
· The Manila Social Welfare Department gave hot meals to the displaced residents and is assessing what help they need. Some residents evacuated to neighboring barangays, and others gathered their belongings near Capulong Bridge.

■ Notice for Residents and Travelers
· In areas crowded with houses built from light materials, fire can spread in an instant, so check the emergency exits and evacuation routes of your accommodation in advance.
· When you leave your home, check the gas valve and unplug electrical appliances.
