Malacañang dismisses "energy lockdown" claims as fake news on April 20

Malacañang has declared a notice circulating under the name of the Department of Energy (DOE) that states "Energy lockdown to start April 20" as fake news.

Palace spokesperson Claire Castro confirmed via Viber message, "Fake news ito."

The forged notice even used the DOE logo and urged the public to prepare items such as power banks, solar equipment, candles, lamps, and food.

Spokesperson Castro had previously stated during a briefing on March 27 that no energy lockdown was planned.

The government has taken immediate action as fake news designed to stir public anxiety spreads amid the energy crisis caused by the war in Iran.
