Angeles Trip Story from 2019

I traveled to Angeles for 4 days from late November to early December 2019. It was a short trip, so I traveled in a condensed manner. At that time, cigarettes were about 2,200 won per pack. In Korea, they were 4,500 won, so I was saving 2,300 won per pack.

I was saving 23,000 won per carton, 230,000 won for ten cartons, which covered my flight cost.

After arriving at the airport, I was caught during the baggage check. A middle-aged employee pointed at the cartons of cigarettes in my luggage and said something in Tagalog that I obviously couldn't understand. I just said, "Hey, hey, ten dollars, okay?" and suddenly the employee said "Okay" and started looking around nervously.

When I took out 10 dollars from my wallet, the employee stopped me, saying "Stop, stop." I wondered why this guy was acting like this, and he said "Toilet, toilet" to me. Hahaha.

Understanding him, I went to the restroom. The employee pretended to urinate, and I also pretended to urinate at the urinal next to him. I handed him the 10 dollars, and the employee took it, said "Have a nice day," and left.

It's still a hilarious memory when I think about it.

This was during the old airport era. A month or two later, COVID-19 broke out, so I was lucky to have traveled to the Philippines at that time.
