Are there any Brits here who live on the state pension alone?
There are people who actually live on the UK state pension alone, and one person says they've been doing it for 26 years. Another says a family of five spends around 90,000 pesos a month, but you have to set aside money for medical expenses separately. They say the Philippines has an agreement with the UK, so the pension isn't frozen and goes up every year.
Yes, that's me. I've been living like that for 26 years. Most mornings I go out for a drive. I never go out in the evening. I eat out three times a week. I'm 84 now and I thank God for every new day.
Lots of people live on a pension alone. The state pension amount differs from person to person. If you're from the UK, be aware that your pension gets frozen at the amount it was when you left the UK and declared that you live in Thailand.
I get 2,000 a month. Living alone, would that be enough to live at a decent level...
How do you manage on a pension alone? I'm not being sarcastic, but even with a small private pension added, I'd worry about getting through a month. I mean a normal standard of living, not partying.
