Bureau of Immigration Arrests 2 Wanted Americans in Cavite and Dumaguete in August — Sex Crimes and Drug Cases

📌 On August 19, a 74-year-old American man in Tanza, Cavite, and on August 11, a 45-year-old American man in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, were arrested consecutively by the Bureau of Immigration's Fugitive Search Unit (FSU).
Both were wanted for violating probation and parole conditions in sex crime and drug cases in the U.S., respectively, and the man in Dumaguete had been overstaying illegally for over 3 years.

■ Tanza, Cavite — August 19
· Arrested during a pre-dawn operation in a residential area in Barangay Paradahan I
· Joint operation conducted by the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) and the Philippine National Police CIDG Women and Children Protection Center
· Charges: Violation of probation conditions related to a Criminal Sexual Conduct case — Warrant issued by the Minnesota Department of Corrections in April 2026
· Entered early this year on a temporary visitor (tourist) status. Currently detained at the Bureau of Immigration detention facility undergoing deportation proceedings

■ Dumaguete — August 11
· Arrested in Purok St. John, Barangay Calindagan. Joint operation by U.S. law enforcement, Philippine police, and maritime authorities
· Charges: Violation of parole conditions in a drug case — Warrant from the Sacramento County Superior Court in California
· Entered as a tourist in March 2023 and overstayed past the authorized period. Already listed in Bureau of Immigration records as an "undesirable alien and fugitive"
· Undergoing deportation proceedings while detained by the Bureau of Immigration

■ Notice to Expats and Travelers
· Stating that "the Philippines is not a sanctuary for fugitives," the Bureau of Immigration is increasing joint operations with foreign law enforcement agencies. Fugitives are being tracked down and arrested even if they are hiding out in small provincial towns rather than major cities.
· Overstaying beyond the permitted period is in itself grounds for crackdowns and deportation. Be sure to keep track of your visa expiration date.
