My house backs onto the woods. Every night I let my two dogs out to do their business and then let them back in. One night I opened the door and one dog came in. Then the next dog came in with a friend. I did a double take, and my Lab had brought in an opossum. By then my whippet, who has a strong prey drive, realized what was going on and went nuts trying to chase that opossum. It was like Benny Hill music was playing as I chased the dog around trying to keep it from getting the opossum, while the Lab was happily barking and the opossum was cornered and absolutely furious. I opened the basement door to protect the opossum, and eventually my roommates came downstairs wondering what the commotion was and scooped up the whippet and carried it out. When I opened the back door again, the opossum happily left. So now I always check out the window before opening the door.

Even in a panic, a capybara is the most chill animal in the world.
