Notice on Progress Regarding Delays in Alien Employment Permit (AEP) Issuance and Collection of Difficulties
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines has been in continuous consultation with the relevant Philippine authorities regarding the difficulties Korean nationals have recently faced in extending their visas and maintaining their legal status of stay due to delays in the issuance of Alien Employment Permits (AEP) by the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In particular, on September 21, the Embassy met with the Commissioner of the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) and requested a resolution to the visa extension problems caused by the AEP issuance delays. As a result, a temporary measure was put in place that allows applications to extend the employment visa (9(g)) to be submitted under certain conditions even before the physical AEP card is issued.
In addition, on October 12, the Embassy met with the Secretary of the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), conveyed the difficulties faced by Korean nationals and companies due to the AEP issuance delays, and requested prompt processing and improvements to the related procedures.
According to the Embassy's most recent confirmation with DOLE, the approval and issuance procedures for AEP applications from Korean nationals are currently in progress.
Accordingly, the Embassy would like to collect cases of Korean nationals and companies who are facing difficulties because their AEP application has not been processed for more than 60 days, or because their AEP application itself was refused. If your situation falls under the categories below, please send the relevant details by email.
○ Email for submissions: ph04@mofa.go.kr
○ Eligible cases
1. Cases where approval or issuance has not been completed even though more than 60 days have passed since the AEP application
2. Cases where DOLE has refused to accept the AEP application itself, making a normal application impossible
○ Information to submit
- Applicant's name and company name
- AEP application date and application receipt number (if any)
- Current status and specific difficulties
- Supporting documents (receipt, DOLE notice, etc.)
※ The following are excluded from this collection because they do not fall under the eligible cases: general inquiries about processing status, requests to contact DOLE officials or arrange meetings with them, and suggestions for improving administrative procedures.
Please also note that the Embassy does not have the authority to review or approve individual AEP applications, so please check the general progress of your application through DOLE or the agency handling your application.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines will continue to work closely with the relevant Philippine authorities and make ongoing efforts so that the practical difficulties faced by Korean nationals and companies due to the AEP issuance delays can be resolved as soon as possible.
Thank you.
