Constant dating lies?

When I chat with several Filipino women for weeks at a time, the same thing keeps happening: a big hole suddenly opens up in the story, usually around their relationship or dating history. I don't mind someone having baggage. The problem is that, while we're getting to know each other, it looks like they lie about or leave out important things.

Have you had similar experiences with Filipino women or other Southeast Asian women, on dating apps or in person? Or not?

In my home country (the West), I never had this kind of experience. I'm fairly young, and this has happened with women of all different ages and education levels.

Am I just being biased?

Lying is a culture

99% of the women I've met in this country lied multiple times on the first meeting, and they keep it up until you slowly figure it out. The more you date, the easier it gets to spot, but it never goes away completely. Being dishonest is part of the culture here.

Doubt everything first.

The right mindset is this: Until proven otherwise, always assume she has a past and a backup.

An Absurd Experience

I never looked for a serious relationship, only one-night stands, but if lying were a sport, Filipinos would be Olympic gold medalists. Some of the famous liars I've met: - A girl I took out for lechon came back to my place, and after we were done she pulled out a watch and asked if I wanted to buy it. Getting a free meal, sleeping with me, and selling a watch was the plan from the start. She also told me, without me asking, that she'd only slept with the father of her baby, a local Filipino guy. That was the only time I met her, and later an old Facebook account linked to that number popped up showing two baby daddies, and she was using a Japanese surname, probably from a separate ex lol - A girl on her period slept with me. I'm not trying to brag, but I'm bigger than the world average and definitely big for this region. Still, even if I were swinging a 10-inch python it would be hard to make a woman bleed. She messaged me later saying the bleeding might continue because of my big size, that she needed to go to the hospital, and that she needed money. Even if it were true I wouldn't have sent any, but I was curious and asked how much it would cost, and she just said a lot, hoping I'd name a high number lol. I blocked her. - The last girl acted weird whenever I put my hand around her waist, and at first she wouldn't take her clothes off completely. I asked if she had kids and she said no, and there were no red stretch marks, but you could see them in certain light or angles. An old Facebook account turned up, and of course she had a 4-year-old. I know it's a big cultural thing in Asian countries with a lot of face-saving, but it's extreme here, to the point where a Filipino would try to convince you they were never shot while bleeding from a gunshot wound lol

I don't ask about the past.

Maybe it's because I'm older, or maybe I'm just weird, but I don't ask women about their dating history. It's fine if she wants to tell me, but I think it's irrelevant. I'm interested in *her*, not her exes. Same goes for prying questions like what her 'body count' is. Come to think of it, I think I did ask that kind of thing as a teenager. I'm not sure when it changed... probably around the time I matured a bit and realized the past rarely defines a person. That's assuming she isn't currently married, of course. That one is relevant as dating history (and it's a line you don't cross). I don't know if this is normal or not. It's just not something I care about when getting to know someone. Like a lot of things in life, some people do it and some don't. If it were something only Filipino women (or Southeast Asian women in general) did, I'd be surprised. I think it just shows a certain type of person.

Sorry, but why is everyone so shocked? Western women are generally freer than the women here. I'm not trying to take the Filipinas' side, and there are rotten people here like anywhere else. But where are you even meeting these women? Did you take the time to get to know them? Some of you will say, 'Who has time for that?' That might be part of the answer. My American fiancé and I spent time getting to know each other before he even booked a flight. I saw one comment where someone had a similar experience with three different women, and what those women had in common was that he ended up sleeping with them one way or another. I'm not saying there's a set timeline for getting close, but if you want a real relationship, doesn't it make sense to take your time and understand the other person instead of rushing? It's too bad if you met women who wanted something different. Better luck next time. Get to know the person, call regularly if you're really interested, and invest the time. That's how my fiancé met me, and he has a lot of other good qualities too. And no, he isn't a desperate 60-year-old. We're both in our prime and we simply wanted the same things from a relationship. That's what drew us to each other. In the end, I think *the kind of person you are determines the kind of person you attract*.
