FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: What is the intern selection process?
A: Company recruitment ➝ intern recruitment ➝ applicants' résumés sent to companies ➝ applicant screening and selection. Companies are recruited first, applicants are then openly recruited according to the job postings written by the companies, and the recruited applicants' résumés are sent to the companies.
Interns are finally selected after the company's document screening and interview screening of applicants.

Q: Are there any costs for the company?
A: Companies must pay interns directly at least the minimum hourly wage under local labor law (a minimum of USD 1,100 per month).

Q: What about the intern's flight and visa?
A: Visa issuance fees are paid by the intern applicants themselves, and the company must provide the administrative support needed for visa issuance. The Overseas Koreans Agency provides initial settlement support of up to KRW 3 million per person to cover airfare, insurance, first month's rent, and so on.

Q: What is visa issuance support?
A: This is support for companies that help selected interns obtain a work-eligible visa before departure.
- Conditions: Companies that support interns in obtaining a work visa before departure
- Support: Partial support for the cost borne by the company to obtain the visa (up to KRW 1 million per person)
※ Excludes the US J1 visa and working holiday visa countries

Q: If a company applies for an intern, is it guaranteed to be able to select one?
A: Because applicants are recruited based on the job posting submitted by the company, if there are no applicants, it is not possible to select and hire an intern.

Q: What is the final selection review committee?
A: Even if companies and interns are matched, if the number exceeds the number the Agency can dispatch (40), a final review committee including external members is held to select the final matched companies and interns, taking into account the likelihood of conversion to full-time employment, whether the intern is local talent, the ratio by country/industry, company benefits, reputation, number of regular employees, and so on.

Q: What kind of applicants apply as interns?
A: This internship recruits interns based on the hiring information submitted by participating companies, and the common eligibility requirements for all applicants are: ① no grounds for disqualification from obtaining a visa or traveling abroad; ② interest in advancing overseas through an overseas Korean company; ③ a graduate or expected graduate of their last school who is 34 years old or younger (as of the date of the recruitment notice), or (for enrolled students) someone who has completed at least 4 semesters of university (2 semesters of junior college).
※ When selecting, companies may give preference to those who can work overseas after the internship ends.

Q: How many days per week and hours per day will interns work?
A: This internship is based on a 5-day, 40-hour week, but the number of working days and hours per week is determined by each company's operating policy, so please state the exact working days and hours on the intern application. If agreed in advance with the intern applicant, working days and hours can be adjusted within the hours permitted for work locally.
