I don't know, bro. You said publicly that 'nobody dates single moms,' as if they were something else. Wasn't that a put-down? Why the sudden change of heart and outrage? https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines_Expats/comments/1tld3ud/comment/onetedd/

Giving people a reason to drive their cars was a pretty good plan.
The Philippines is an archipelago of over 4000 islands, and a lot of the roads are bad. Getting from one island to another sometimes means pushing the bike by hand across a flooded road or river, or loading it onto a small raft-like boat. Not really the place to tour on something like an FJR1300. I'd go for something like a KLE500, MT450, Himalayan 450 or Versys 650. If you're older or smaller, a CRF or KLX 300. Why automatic, don't you have a full licence? If not, maybe a big scooter like the X Max or ADV.
I heard from locals that yes, it's an everyday topic among them. Making ends meet, life being hard.

We fondly remember the days when phone buttons actually had letters printed on them

So what's your question
I'm way too high for this
Wherever you go, there you are
I get what you're trying to say, but honestly, this comes across as a bit condescending toward Filipinos. You seem surprised that not every Filipino who knows English speaks it with perfect grammar and fluency, but for many Filipinos English is a second or even third language. Being able to communicate in English doesn't mean claiming to be a native speaker or an advanced user. And comparing the Philippines with Spain by simply splitting it into "Filipinos know lots of words but can't form sentences, while Spaniards either don't speak it or speak it properly" is a pretty sweeping generalization. There are Filipinos who speak exceptionally fluent English, Filipinos who are conversational, and Filipinos who struggle with it. Same goes for Spaniards. What you're describing isn't really "culture shock." You've discovered that language ability exists on a spectrum. 😭 Also, grammatical accuracy is only one part of communication. Someone can make grammar mistakes and still communicate effectively, understand you, express themselves and handle daily life in English. That's still meaningful language ability. Instead of seeing it as "Filipinos surprisingly can't speak English as well as I expected," it'd be worth thinking about why English is so widespread here in the first place, in a country with hundreds of local languages and huge differences in education and exposure. There's definitely a difference between being able to communicate in English and being highly proficient. But that difference doesn't need to be framed as a flaw in Filipinos.
'I don't have any m... any m... I'm poor' Gold
A good friend of mine lives there… his only complaint is the distance and time it takes to get to civilization for any basic needs… you can't just pop out for bread and milk… which obviously gets much worse in the rainy season. The weekly shop has to be planned with military precision! You also have to think about social life outside the community's walls. It takes planning and effort, especially if you're a drinker. The roads aren't great either! We have to plan ahead to meet at Vasco's in SBMA for a few beers! Which is where I happen to live.
TL;DR: a 25-year-old "man" treating his dates as "sales leads"… complaining that the leads are too expensive and eat up his time.

He's putting a lot of trust in that suit...
Are you a kid? This has to be a Filipina who wrote this. Haven't seen anyone fan over an iPhone since high school.
You're 58. And you're not Leo DiCaprio, not Brad Pitt, not George Clooney. Honestly, what are your chances?
