Location & How to Get There — Located in the wetland area of Candaba town on the eastern edge of Pampanga, it is about 1 to 1.5 hours' drive from Angeles. The roads inside the wetlands are narrow and unpaved, so it is better to have a sturdy car, or you can take a tricycle from the town center.
What to See — Migratory birds fly down from cold northern regions to spend the winter in the Candaba Wetlands, which turn into a vast wetland during the rainy season and rice paddies during the dry season. The sanctuary was designated by the Candaba municipal council in 2004, but since most of it is private property, about 72 hectares owned by the former mayor remain today.
Fees & Operation — Currently, admission fees and operating hours could not be confirmed through official sources. Since there are 2017 reports and 2025 reviews mentioning that migratory birds have decreased and it is not what it used to be, it is best to check the conditions with the Candaba tourism office before visiting.
Tips — The migratory bird season runs from October to April, with November to February having the highest numbers. Early morning (5 AM to 7 AM) when birds forage is the best time for observation, and make sure to bring binoculars, a telephoto lens, water, and snacks. There are no shops or restrooms inside.
