Why the Philippines Isn't Erupting Like France
I saw someone on a Philippine subreddit say, "Why don't we fill the streets like France does?"
Let me explain why. France is a welfare state. People there don't have to work just to get by.
The Philippines is the exact opposite of a welfare state.
Here, everyone has at least one side job. Everyone is busy. People work to put rice on the dinner table.
There's no time for pointless things like starting riots and smashing stuff. If you're lucky, your safety net is your relatives. That's all there is!
So, riots? Smashing everything? There's no time for that!
Ordinary Filipinos drove Marcos Sr. out in 1986, so nobody should underestimate them.
Listening to this, it sounds like Filipinos have even more reason to riot than the French.
> Let me explain why. France is a welfare state. People there don't have to work to survive. The Philippines is the exact opposite of a welfare state. That's true, but why is that? Because France is a refugee country that takes in aggressive male immigrants from Africa. The Philippines prefers wealthy retired white people or Northeast Asian foreigners.
Honestly, Filipinos are also furious about the extreme corruption, and they want to see those people toppled and jailed. But they're too scared to take the risk. They've been conditioned to just accept it.
