Why is GCash so bad (when moving USD → PHP through PayPal)
Hi everyone, I've been living in the Philippines for quite a while now, and moving money from my US account to GCash is way more annoying than it should be. Pointless maintenance, transfer limits, occasional delays... it makes no sense that I have to go through this much trouble just to access my own money.
The fees add up too. Sending from PayPal to GCash can get pretty expensive once you factor in the exchange rate. (150 on 15,000 pesos??) I've been looking into alternatives like Wise or Uno, as well as other digital banks, but I haven't decided yet.
Ditch PayPal and use Wise. It's a great money transfer app. It's fast and hassle-free. Compared to Wise, PayPal is a headache.
I use World Remit when sending USD to GCash, it works well. Wise is my backup
Why would you do this? Get a brokerage-linked card like Schwab's, which refunds all ATM fees. You move your cash into the money market account there and withdraw as much as you want, whenever you want, with no fees.
Can't you link a debit card to GCash? Why add PayPal as a middleman?
