Why do foreign residents and tourists dress so badly?
Whether in Manila or the provinces, Western men all seem to dress terribly. Cargo shorts, faded t-shirts, and even worse, tank tops with slippers. The contrast with Korean men is striking. Korean men pay quite a bit of attention to their clothes, and Korean women dress better than women in any part of Western Europe, anyway.
Don't you feel even a little like dressing up? Aren't you ashamed to represent your home country so poorly?
Travel advisories for the Philippines from many Western countries, including the US and Canada, say this: "Do not display any signs of wealth."
Do I feel like dressing up even a little? Not at all.
Wow, my comment got deleted for telling the truth. Very PC and woke of this sub... Anyway, my original comment was that Asian men, especially Korean men, care a lot about showing their status to look richer and cooler, even if they come from humble origins. Western men generally care much less about expressing that through fashion.
