When did the Philippines start charging a departure tax when you leave the country? I'm not talking about the exit clearance paperwork, I mean the 1,620-peso travel tax. This is total BS! 🐂💩

Tourists don't have to pay. The Philippine government exists to make Filipinos' lives hell. You've had a good time here, so help us embarrass our government 😅🤣

Since 1956. The TIEZA travel tax is paid by Filipinos (except OFWs) and by foreign tourists and residents who have stayed in the Philippines for more than a year (1,620 pesos for economy flights, 2,700 for premium). It may already be included in your ticket price, or you can pay it at check-in at a kiosk or online on the TIEZA website. SRRV holders, 9e holders, and Balikbayans (since their visa is limited to one year) are exempt from the travel tax.
