I went through this last July, and mostly it was my wife who was interviewed. It took about 3 minutes for me. They asked a few things like why my wife wanted to sponsor me even though we'd only been married a few months. My wife didn't have to explain much. She said she wanted to avoid renewing every two months because that money is for us. And we also own land together and now we run a business. I got approved one month after the interview. Then my 13a permanent residency has to be applied for again in about 9 months. We live far from the regional office, so that's another big expense.

I didn't have an interview. I went to the BI office at headquarters and they only asked my name and address. That was it.

The biggest thing they asked about was my financial situation, like how much I earn in a month.

They ask a lot of ridiculous things, even like what color my partner's toothbrush is. They ask small things a partner would know, and sometimes they slightly change the question to see if you'll correct them.
