Is it possible to cover living expenses?

If you're on your own, around $2,000 a month is enough to live comfortably, and life here is great. That was my basic budget in Angeles, which is pricey, and I had a really good time. Just make sure you have savings and set something aside for travel. (I was military too.)

You didn't mention your lifestyle or how much you're willing to put up with. I'm at 100% and still send a lot of money back to the US: home loan, utilities, and supporting family. But here I live simply and watch my spending. What kind of life are you looking for?

Is it just 80%, or did you finish 20 years? Even if you didn't, you can still try, but it'll be tight. With a military pension plus VA benefits, you can live like royalty.

I live well on $2,350 a month by myself. It's doable, and getting an SRRV visa is much better than living on a tourist visa. All in, getting it costs about $3,500.
