Has anyone with a USAA ATM card managed to get more than 10,000 pesos out of a machine in the Philippines? Any suggestions

appreciated. $160 per withdrawal isn't good enough ...

At most 7-Eleven stores, the ATMs allow 15K per transaction. China Bank ATMs (less common) allow 20K. More than that is rare at ATMs.

Good news and bad news. UnionBank and HSBC allow 40K in a single ATM withdrawal. China Bank (a Philippine bank) allows 20K per withdrawal. Yes, USAA and NFCU refund the 250 ATM fee, but they have a 1% internal charge, so your 40K UnionBank withdrawal will cost 400 pesos. Most of us use Schwab, Fidelity and Betterment because they refund the 250 ATM fee and have no international fee. Fidelity has free SWIFT transfers, so you can send USD from Fidelity to a Philippine USD account with no fee on the US side. Good luck. Enjoy, and thank you for your service.

The 10k peso limit isn't really about limits. It's a limit set on foreign cards so they can collect the 250 peso fee. The solution is to get a local card. I pay zero at my bank and 18 pesos at others, and I can take out up to 25k at a time. If you don't live here, you'll just have to pay the fee. Tourist charge.

In my experience, it usually depends on the ATM and the location. I've found higher limits are more common in urban areas. As others have said, you can find 40K machines in the Metro. Go to the province, and that same bank may limit non-members to lower withdrawals. Before I had BDO, I could withdraw more in the Metro and was limited to 10K in the province. Once I opened a BDO account, as a member I could take out the full member amount. As mentioned, USAA and NFCU charge a 1% foreign transaction fee on ATM withdrawals, so I don't use their ATM cards. Their credit cards, on the other hand, have no foreign fees. I was using Charles Schwab before I opened my BDO account.

My understanding is the amount is set by the ATM's bank. One of my banks is BDO, and with my BDO ATM card I can take out 20,000 at a time, but when I was using my US-based Charles Schwab debit card the limit was only 10,000 at a time. I could still take out up to $500 a day, I just had to pay the 250 peso fee for each 10,000 I can't verify this, but someone told me BPI allows 20,000 per transaction with foreign cards, and someone else says the biggest per transaction is a UnionBank ATM at 40,000 I can't verify this, I'm just passing on what I've been told
