Ube keeps popping up more and more in my feed, and not from vloggers but from news broadcasts in several countries. Is the government doing anything to capitalize on this craze?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I know, taking advantage of this isn't that easy. Scaling up ube cultivation isn't easy. I understand the conditions for growing ube are very demanding.

I think the government learned from the mistake with nata de coco in the 90s. Recently they banned the export of raw ube to stop other countries from taking the famous ube variety. By the way, only raw ube exports are banned. Processed ube is still exported.

Looks like you didn't watch the video to the end. At the end of the NHK video, it mentions what the government and the private sector are doing to meet future demand and make sure this doesn't end up as just a passing fad.
