I just found out today that the Trump phone's battery is made in the Philippines.
When you think about it, we have a lot of skilled workers who could easily handle assembly and manufacturing. We have tons of technicians for all kinds of appliances and personal devices too. If people can fix everything from air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, and phones to cars, I'd think assembly could be done here just fine. It just seems like we never get the chance.
I don't know why this is a surprise. One of our main exports is semiconductors.
It's like a dropshipping company. Trump hates seeing 'Made in China' on batteries, so they set up a company in the Philippines, buy the battery components from China, and assemble the batteries in the Philippines. > Newlix Manufacturing Inc. (NMI) is a PEZA economic zone export enterprise registered in 2025. NMI is dedicated to producing high-quality communication devices and equipment through the repair, refurbishment, and assembly of smart devices such as mobile phones, smartwatches, mobile hotspot devices, and LTE modules, along with their components and accessories, and to performing A-grade diagnostics, quality certification, and system recovery on imported electronic devices with technical issues. It upholds the highest standards in quality, safety, and environmental responsibility, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer expectations. Assembly, refurbishment, and repair are that company's business.
The product may be an L, but the production is a W.
