Tourist Robbed at Gunpoint by Fake Motorcycle Taxi Men
The victim (46) was walking to buy food when three suspects dressed like legitimate motorcycle taxi drivers tried to snatch his bag.
The tourist resisted and a struggle broke out, but one of the suspects fired a gun, forcing him to let go of the bag. The victim suffered abrasions to his head and knee and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The arrested suspect appears to be linked to three carjacking cases and was also facing a rape case.
The number of tourists in the Philippines keeps dropping. I have no idea why 🤔
You'd need to wear a bulletproof vest just to go outside. But seriously, if you're a tourist you've got to stay on your guard. I'm thinking of carrying a decoy phone and wallet myself. Not a good outlook for a country that's struggling with tourism :(
"Fired a gun," huh... guess they shot it into the air.
The talk about safety here is seriously way too soft. The people here seem like they've never been to or lived in London, Mexico City, or honestly just about any city in the world. I'm more scared walking around my small hometown in the UK than Manila. I got robbed in Denver and in Brazil, and in Lima I was assaulted in broad daylight....
