Jackie Chan almost died in all of his early films, but yes, this was one of the closest.

Yes. That's the movie that almost killed him. He was rushing a 'simple' stunt. It was a jump from a wall to a tree, and I remember it was about 15 feet high. He jumped, missed the branch, flipped over, and landed on his head. Then he had to sit in a hospital in Hungary(?) for 24 to 48 hours waiting for brain surgery. I think it was to relieve the pressure from a hematoma. He's said in interviews that he's careful to protect that part of his head when filming fight scenes. I'm writing this from memory.
