Theo Bonn is unintentionally so funny
Neil deGrasse Tyson looks like Gary Indiana Jones
Wow, that really hit the spot. I have a Black friend who's totally into the cowboy look lately, so I'm definitely using this.
Back in the 80s, my uncle was obsessed with Prince and walked around in eyeliner and a blouse. Now in 2026, my Black uncle has suddenly turned into a cowboy character out of nowhere. He goes around in a string tie, boots, and a hat. As far as I know, he's never even ridden a horse. It looks so out of place in our area (Seattle, Washington) that I told him so, but it didn't do any good. I guess this is a dig at Gary Indiana Jones too.
I think it was intentional!
Yeah, Theo is playing a character. He does it on purpose to act like it's unintentional, and he's really good at it.
It's interesting that he's hilarious in conversation but his stand-up special isn't great. The character gets too over the top when he's alone, but it fits perfectly in real life.
He needs someone to play off of. He can't riff alone. In a conversation he has to be the clueless dope, not say sharp stuff too. That doesn't work.
Just remember that a big reason life expectancy was low back then was the insanely high infant mortality rate. A lot of mothers died in childbirth too. To survive you had to do a lot of physical labor, which was often dangerous. If you broke a bone, caught a disease, or got attacked by an animal or another person, your chances of survival were low. I read somewhere that generally, people who made it to 35 were likely to live past 60.
How could anyone look at that and think it wasn't intentional?
