I'm staying in a condo in Manila,
and the noisy hours are set from 3 to 5 PM, and this has been going on for 4 days now.
I went to see what kind of work it was.
They were replacing broken tiles.
To remove the tiles and the leftover tile cement,
they keep hammering away with a stick that has a nail in it.
If they used a cutting disc or a grinder,
the job would be done in a day
and it would be less noisy too,
but they just keep banging away, bang bang bang. ๐
Labor is ridiculously cheap here and tools are really expensive. Easy math.
Nails and sticks are good or bad depending on the brand. My neighbor had a few guys do his entire driveway like that, tapping away with nails and sticks... it took months. If it were me, I'd have had it done in half a day with a jackhammer. It would have been a lot cheaper too lol. Logic and common sense don't really work here.
Be prepared for endless noise. Some of the Philippine contractors who built condos like this cut corners cowboy-style, not putting enough tile adhesive and not leveling the tiles. In the end the floor ends up looking like shattered glass and has to be ground down.
Maybe that guy can't afford the tools you're talking about. If it bothers you, why don't you buy them for him?
