There's a remote job available.
I didn't go after it. And I doubt anyone here would be able to take that opportunity. At my last job, I was an incident response engineer working with 3PAR storage. This time, I was basically contacted to do my old work from the client's side. The money they offered was substantial. It would probably have been a contract position. Insurance was already sorted out, and I probably would have had to move back to the US for a while. I didn't take it because I don't want to sell my time just for money.
The key point is that if you build up the skills people want, you can work anywhere. I've worked remotely for 16 years. And right now I'm working while on the move.
Sounds good.. What did you do during those 16 years?
So what's the point of explaining all this at such length, instead of just saying the obvious?
Really? Then try being someone who taught English in Korea for 10 years, moved here, and is completely unqualified for any other work you can do remotely. They won't even look at me for remote English jobs.
