Has anyone had trouble with their YouTube Premium…

Hi.

Has anyone had trouble with their YouTube Premium subscription lately? For years I've paid for Premium with my US credit card, and it never mattered whether I was in the Philippines, Korea or China. But now YouTube says I need a payment method from the country I'm currently in, not the country I'm billed in. Looks like they're restricting payment methods this way now. Anyone else getting blocked like this?

Obviously they want you to follow location-based pricing. That's their business model Use a VPN if it works

If you're paying for Premium to avoid ads, just set your VPN to Albania. Ads are illegal there.

I could never use my US credit card. It's against the rules, because to get the Philippine price you have to use a Philippine payment method. My wife pays with her GCash, so the answer is 'Yes, I had that problem too.' But you didn't say whether the country your email is registered in (the location) matches where your YouTube subscription is.

Do you download a lot of videos or use YouTube Music? Otherwise Premium isn't really worth it. Brave, for example, already removes YouTube ads for free (among other things). Come to think of it, I also use Brave to block website scripts, so I haven't had to deal with news paywalls for a few years now.

I pay with a US credit card with no issues. I'd suspect fraud or a scam
