My American boyfriend is coming to visit and I'm getting ready

I don't know if it's okay to post this here since I'm a Filipina. But I haven't traveled much, so I don't know the good spots around Metro Manila, and I really need advice

For some background, I live in the province and my boyfriend is planning to come see me for the first time in a few months. But I'm seriously unprepared in every way lol

The rough plan is to book a nice Airbnb in BGC. I'm still deciding where to go and I have no idea what the hottest spots are. Also, I don't have TikTok so I can't look things up there (and I won't). I want to take him somewhere nice. I'm thinking of walking around Makati too. Anywhere that's safe for him, lol, because I'm not used to city life either, so I can't protect him

Any good recommendations for restaurants, bars, or ukay-ukay (thrift clothing stores)? I'm about to start planning his itinerary. We're both young adults, so we're looking for fun places!! Thank you

p.s. I can't take him home yet. My parents still don't know I have an AFAM boyfriend lol

Mark my words. He won't care about any place as much as being close to you.

Ocean Park, Intramuros, Rizal Park, BGC, MoA, the National Museum complex, the Greenfield food truck fest, the whole Quiapo area (especially the underground part), the Mind Museum, and the Venice Grand Canal Mall are places I went to and enjoyed the first two times, or had a lot of fun at because they were different from what I see back home. Oh, and BGC's Market! Market! has tons of nice shops and things to see for visitors, and there's even a Ukai Ukai (the first one I'd seen in the Philippines). I was with my fiancé so I didn't go to any nightlife, but those are the places I remember visiting.

OP, take the advice and get out of Manila. You can go past Batangas to Mabini for snorkeling, or go to Subic. Or fly anywhere. But I strongly recommend getting out of Manila. Don't spend more than 3 days there. If your boyfriend is coming for 2 weeks, that's a long time, so you can hit a few places. Getting around will cost money but it's worth it, and most of these places are less expensive than BGC anyway. And don't go to the midget boxing.

Aww, so cute!! Walk around Intramuros, and in the evening take a stroll along the Pasig River. Always take Grab, and never hail a taxi on the street yourself. If you have a decent budget, try having dinner at Sampiro in Salcedo, right next to Makati. It might be good to stay at Gramercy (Airbnb) in Makati or Uptown Parksuites in BGC. Other than that, just enjoy.

Your boyfriend will need your help dealing with scammers. Manila is especially bad for foreigners. When you're with an American, taxis won't turn on the meter at all. They'll say 'minimum fare is 1,500 pesos, sir,' and if you argue, you get kicked out of the car or end up arguing the whole way to your destination. Also watch out for dangerous neighborhoods a taxi driver might take you to. Use Grab. Being from the provinces could work against both of you. In the provinces most scams come from relatives, and in Manila the worst or most desperate people will be drawn to your American like a magnet. Also tell him that at NAIA you can call a Grab without a local SIM, and that if it's not too expensive, he should get a local SIM or his carrier's global roaming for a month.
