I don't think it's intentional design. But I do think the delivery guy figured it out at some point and now opens the door to exactly that spot every time.

Sharp observation: the door really is open to a very specific spot, not all the way. I can't remember the last time I didn't open a sliding door fully. That's a weird thing to do.
