Does anyone personally know someone who's been deported?
If so, is it true you get locked up in a horrible, overcrowded, prison-like room?
Yes. Yes. But enough money can help.
I wouldn't call them friends, but ALL of the Israeli acquaintances I met on Siargao have apparently been deported. They were all living and working there illegally, so, well, they broke the law. My friend's older brother was here visiting family, and while island hopping he forgot he'd bought a 'cart' (weed vape) in Siargao, and they found it in his bag when he landed in Cebu. He was detained but they let him go. I think having actual Filipino family was the only reason they let him stay. It's super easy to stay out of trouble here. Just don't get into trouble.
No, I don't.
OK, so you've never visited a prison here in the Philippines. Go online, browse teleserye shows and find a prison scene. Then understand they cleaned it up a lot for filming. Yes, the real prison is much worse than what they show on TV.
With all the drama Siim was getting into, I felt like I knew him personally ๐.
