Switching SSA direct deposit to a Philippine account (BPI)
Hi, does anyone know how many months my grandfather has to wait for his SSA direct deposit to switch over to a Philippine bank? We submitted the documents to the US Embassy in the Philippines on July 24.
In August it still went into his US bank account
In September, nothing came in at all.

Why not just keep a US account and move the money through a remittance site?

Like 'door' said… keep it in the US account. Nothing gets messed up… you earn interest… it's safe.

Even within the US, moving a Social Security direct deposit from one bank to another takes 3 months.
