Filipinos should be more grateful to foreigners
There are so many angry, bitter Filipinos on here, and honestly it's kind of embarrassing. Foreigners bring in tons of money and keep whole industries like tourism, and whole cities, afloat. Where would the Philippines be without all the Western retirees and the Korean guys cheating on their wives? Places like Dumaguete and Clark are nice because of all the foreign money pouring in.
Of course we come for the women. You think we put up with all the nonsense here for nothing? Constant brownouts, some of the worst traffic in the world, scams, and violence targeting foreigners. The neighboring countries beat you on everything from infrastructure to safety. You should be grateful that young Filipinas can attract men from all over the world, because otherwise nobody would come to the Philippines except maybe a handful of surfers and snorkelers.

It's because foreigners, especially passport bros and retired US military veterans, aren't novelties in the Philippines anymore. Foreigners may bring tons of dollars into the Philippine economy, but local productivity isn't keeping up with the flood of dollars into places like Dumaguete and Clark, so asset prices inflate and locals get priced out. The Philippines seriously needs macroeconomic and political restructuring to keep up with the times. For example, amending the constitution so foreigners can own small and medium-sized companies without Filipino partners who hold 60% equity but do nothing in day-to-day operations. That would create jobs for locals with decent pay and benefits, and make transactional marriages with foreigners as a way out of poverty unnecessary.

You're right, but it's not just the Philippines. It happens in almost every tourist country in the world. You make your living off tourism, yet you hate tourists... Same with companies. The company gives you a job and a paycheck, but you hate business owners and call business corrupt...
