My local post office still has its 'new hours' sign up ๐

Same energy as automated phone lines saying "please listen carefully, as our menu options have changed"
When I started working in telecom, I realized there's no point changing that little intro. You're always changing the options.
Doesn't it eventually become a "boy who cried wolf" situation, though? We get so used to hearing it that it doesn't really mean anything anymore.
Not really. Listening carefully to every option should be the caller's default. This just reminds the caller of their duty.
The Duty of Callโฆ.. or something like that
I work in IT sales, and we still have customers whose voicemail says "due to the COVID-19 pandemic"
Apparently people still haven't learned to read. They left it up just for them, to make the point: "These have been our hours for almost 20 years, you come in every week, you should know this by now."
You seriously have no idea. When I worked at CVS, they finally decided to close the pharmacies for 30 minutes at lunch, starting February 28, 2022. I left in 2025 and still had people asking, "When did you guys start closing for lunch?" The sign had been on the door for 3 years. The phone line tells you we close for lunch. We even added a second sign at the register, and people would look right past it to ask us. Starting in December before the change, we even put inserts in every prescription we filled. People just don't care to read.
I work in pharmacy too. "When did you start closing for lunch? You never used to, and I've been coming here for five years." Ten years ago, Bob. Ten.
If the paper hasn't yellowed yet, why change it?
