Grab delivery delays
Has anyone else noticed Grab deliveries are always late?
What app do you use to order food?
Grab is getting worse every day.
Still using Grab. I tried Foodpanda, but when my orders started arriving with only half the items they did nothing, so I deleted the app.
What I've noticed is that with standard delivery, two or three orders sometimes get bundled and it takes longer. Strangely, that doesn't happen when I pick Saver, because it usually arrives even earlier than shown.
Some chains like Pizza Hut and Jollibee have their own in-house delivery fleets. Unlike Grab riders, they earn a base wage instead of taking orders whenever they're available. They don't have to drive across town to pick up your order. I usually get my delivery earlier than the wait time quoted in the email or on the website. The other day I ordered pizza on Pizza Hut's website and it came 10 minutes earlier than estimated. The websites also tend to have better deals. An order that was 2,194 pesos on Grab was 1,592 on the site.
I hardly get delays unless it's raining or some weird hour.
The worst is when you can't cancel and it's been an hour without a driver being assigned, so you already know the order won't go through, but you can't place another one either in case you end up with two. I've had the restaurant reach out and tell me there are no drivers, but they refuse to cancel and I can't cancel on my end. So after waiting 90 minutes I ordered somewhere else, and 5 minutes later the original order suddenly showed it was in the kitchen. So you end up with two orders, and Grab support is about as helpful as a concrete parachute. I've also been in a smaller city waiting forever on an order with no status updates, no replies, and no way to cancel. Eventually the system cancels it because no driver can be found, and by then every other restaurant in the area is closed. Grab really sucks here, and Foodpanda is only a tiny bit better.
I may be an outlier here, but I only pay Grab drivers in cash, with a cash tip. It only took 3 or 4 deliveries before I felt like they were on my side. I always pick the cheapest delivery option, and I always message drivers when they accept: 'Thanks, ride safe, cash tip.' I always tip at least 100 pesos, and I keep getting my food from the same 3 delivery guys. They know me, and a cash tip means a lot to them. My food comes fast. Otherwise I'd be writing a post like this too!
