My jealous wife
Okay, there's nothing new about a jealous Filipina wife… We've been together almost 15 years, and the whole 15 years (sadly) her jealousy has always been an issue. And (as far as I can tell) I genuinely do nothing at all to make her jealous.
I'm probably the least jealous guy you'll ever meet. I'm very relaxed about worrying over things like cheating, and I've always been faithful to my wife.
Then today… I was driving her to work and she dropped something and couldn't find it. When I parked, she got out and started digging under the seats… and pulled out a pink comb and said, “Whose is this?” So I said, “No idea at all, isn't it yours?” I don't even own a comb, let alone a pink one.
Long story short, in her head this isn't suspicion, it's “HARD EVIDENCE!” and of course all hell broke loose at home. My car is only a couple of months old and I can literally remember everyone who's ever been in it… My guess is it belongs to one of her friends, but honestly I have no idea.
I've always seen her jealousy as an attempt to control me somehow, and I think it's immature and sadly shows a real lack of trust… It's all very sad, but that's my (our) reality.
I guess I'm just venting to get it off my chest, but if anyone has a comment or opinion, feel free.
It wrecked every relationship I've had with a Filipina, so I don't even bother anymore. It's deep insecurity and manipulation.. You can't live happily like that long term. Fifteen years, well done.
You're supposed to stamp out this nonsense while you're still dating.
My wife is the jealous type too. We've been married almost 13 years now. When we walk through the mall holding hands, she drops slightly behind to see where my eyes go. Drives me nuts. I told her she should just buy me horse blinders or I'll walk around with my eyes shut. We're all human and we all look at other people!
If she's always jealous, it might be a guilty conscience. There's a good chance she's doing behind your back exactly what she's accusing you of.
God, this could be my future. My girlfriend is the same. It drives me absolutely crazy — she assumes I'd stick it in anything. A female colleague, an ugly woman, doesn't matter; a female friend of 15 years she's met, a female nurse — basically anything female. I've joked that if a female dog came within 5 meters of me she'd kick it. Just like yours, she asks me to ‘prove’ things that never happened… that didn't happen. As if I keep video footage or GPS logs of everything I do. I refuse to play these games. I've told her many times I can't live with someone like this and I'll break up with her if it continues.
So she found actual evidence. It doesn't matter that you're innocent.. Flip it around: if you found a man's socks or watch, would you be so nonchalant? Would it be okay if she vented about you and said your jealousy is a form of control?
I'd disappear for a couple of days and leave her a note telling her to find the comb's owner by asking her friends. Then when you come back, explain that her jealousy drove you out the door.
