How do we make money online so we can live in the Philippines instead of waiting on an immigration process that keeps stalling? We're sick of being kept apart.

How people actually earn

- I set up a remote gig where I make maybe $10–12 an hour, 20 hours a week. Easy, chill, not real work. - I bought houses in rough neighborhoods in the US, fixed them up and rented them out. Still have one. Maybe $450 a month profit after taxes, repairs and insurance. - I keep a car at my rental house and a basement apartment. Every now and then I go back and hustle Uber for 3–5 months. I make $1,200–1,500 a week hustling 55–60 hours a week. Great way to stack cash. Then back to the Philippines for 1–3 years. - I'm pretty heavy in dividend stocks, bringing in maybe $300 a month. It takes a lot of work to avoid real work.

Look into becoming a digital nomad. See what jobs in your home country you can apply for that let you work remotely. Lots of people in Asia and the Philippines do this. I don't know which jobs, only that it's possible.

Dude, just don't. Make your money in the US and spend it here. I've seen too many broke expats sitting on the side of the road. Unless you have a very specialized skill set.

Why do people laugh at posts? Are they little kids in high school???

Don't get a Ferrari on a Toyota budget. A lot of expats think living in another country is cheaper than the US, but they forget they can't just work locally — and if they do, the pay isn't what they're used to. Before you even set foot in another country, make sure you either have your budget mapped out or have a job that lets you work remotely and still get the salary you're used to.
