Is it common to have no ambition?
Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm going to post it and see where it goes.
I fell in love with a man from the Philippines. I'm three years older than him and we're both in our 20s. We're perfect for each other, but there's one problem: I feel like he has no ambition. So I want to ask this sub โ is this common in the Philippines? Or has anyone here had a similar experience with a Filipino partner?
Right now he gets by doing a bit of freelance work, and that's about it. His parents don't support him anymore because he quit college. I'm trying to get him excited about going back to college or doing something, but he doesn't seem to want that and would rather work as a waiter or something like that (not that there's anything wrong with that, but I see so much more potential in him).
I've met plenty of people with sky-high ambition and no talent to back it up. This is a country where you can work incredibly hard and still have nothing. You can go to college and still have nothing. A big part of it is that very few people are ever taught how money actually works in the world. Do you want a boyfriend or a business partner? Accept his limits or move on.
Early retirement is bliss.
Laziness is a character flaw. Especially when you're young.
He's got himself a sugar mama
I know some people abroad who've worked their whole lives at one company on the same low pay for 10+ years. For some, the mindset is โthis pays more than back home, so I'll settle for it rather than risk losing my job.โ So they just stay put and work there until they retire.
I didn't get really ambitious until I had kids. That put a lot of things in perspective.
