Hi everyone, is it possible to enroll a child born in the Philippines in TRICARE without an SSN (Social Security number) yet? Paternity and child support have already been 100% established by a final US court judgment.
The passport process is on administrative hold, but I heard DEERS can generate a temporary placeholder ID number so medical coverage can be activated for overseas dependents while the paperwork is pending. Has anyone managed to do this when the active-duty sponsor won't cooperate? Thank you!

Just raise your child like any Filipina single mother… on your own.
You asked this before, and the answer is yes, but you have to get in touch with DEERS. It's a rare situation. There's a DEERS office inside the US Embassy in Manila with a crazy backlog, and one in Guam if you have a US visa.
You can still take your child for medical care and submit the claim after they're entered into the DEERS and Tricare systems. You just have to pay up front. St. Luke's is a Tricare provider.
You need an SSN to enroll in DEERS. TRICARE can't enroll a dependent who isn't in DEERS.
As the sponsor, I added my son to DEERS and then Tricare before doing the CRBA, passport, and SSN. You don't need those — just the birth certificate. I was listed as the father on it. Just not sure you can do it if you're not the sponsor.
