Where can I get an STI test?
Has anyone gone to a private hospital for an STI test (gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis)? I have symptoms and want to get treated the same day, so I figure a private hospital is my best bet. But I'd like to know how much it cost you..
I just found out my ex-boyfriend cheated on me with a bunch of girls. I did a home test and, sure enough, it came back positive. I want to go to an OB-GYN, get the injection or meds prescribed, and get it over with. But I want to know how much it'll cost. I live around Laguna and I'm planning to go to QualiMed since it has good reviews, but if it's going to be more than 20k, I'm not so sure...
Please help me out. I'd love a full breakdown of the costs and to hear about your experiences at private hospitals. (I'm female, and we're both foreigners.)
Go to your city's hygiene clinic or any LoveYourself clinic. Both do HIV/STI testing for free, and for some infections you can get treated the same day.
No need to go to a hospital, just get yourself treated. Go to any TGP (The Generics Pharmacy) branch — they're all over Luzon. Just show them the meds you need on your phone screen and they'll handle the rest. If they ask whether you have a prescription, just say yes: you have one from your home country, you only arrived today, and the airline lost your luggage with your meds, so you're getting replacements (no one has ever challenged this). The meds will cost between 1,000 and 2,000 pesos. The following should knock out the bacterial infections: gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis. 1. (Azithromycin) Zithromax 1G. Take two 500mg tablets in a single dose. One dose only; it should take 3 days to clear. Also 2. Cefixime (Suprax/Tergecef) 400mg. Take two 200mg tablets in a single dose. One dose only.
I'd suggest asking local Filipina women. They know where to go and how much you'll have to pay.
I've never once seen STI test results come back instantly, so same-day treatment probably isn't going to happen. But if you have symptoms and a home test came back positive too, I'd bet you can find a clinic that'll just give you the meds you need.
Just use one of the online providers. Tell them your symptoms and history, and if you really want to be safe, say he was diagnosed but won't meet you to pass on the partner treatment. They'll give you an e-prescription you can print and take to a pharmacy.
You need to see a doctor or gynecologist first so she can give you a lab request form and then prescribe medication if you test positive for any STI. They'll usually tell you where to get tested, too. Expect to pay the doctor around 500 to 1,000 pesos depending on whether it's a small clinic, St. Luke's, Makati Med, and so on. Some people recommend the LoveYourself clinic.
