Is there a limit on balikbayan boxes?

I'm moving back to the Philippines in a few months and plan to use balikbayan boxes to send a lot of our household stuff and a big pile of books (basically my whole personal library), especially since I don't have anything bulky to ship (I'll just buy new furniture).

My question: has anyone here sent a large number of boxes over a few months? Any tips for getting hassled less at customs? Should I, for example, use different shippers and send to different addresses (like different relatives)? I'm shipping from the East Coast, and I'm estimating around 20 large/jumbo boxes.

The only thing I could find on this was a comment from 2 years ago by someone who said they shipped 30+ boxes in 6 months. But I'm wondering if that was the exception or the norm. Thanks!🙏

Last time we shipped boxes to the Philippines, another customer at the drop-off was shipping 40 boxes. That was through Indiana Balikbayan.

We sent 21 boxes via LBC, including my entire library and our household goods, even new items we expected to be taxed. We put them under my wife's dad's name, sent them to our address, and used his phone number as the contact. No problems.

I've used Forex from Virginia for the last 3 years. Reasonable prices, and I've shipped over 20 boxes. Never had an issue.

There is a limit on the number of boxes and how many times a year you can ship them. I've never seen the rules enforced. I shipped almost an entire 3-bedroom household. The only things I didn't ship were large appliances, and that was only because they were 50Hz and the Philippines runs on 60Hz.

My aunt, before she moved back home from the US for good, sent 1–2 boxes every month or every other month. Same address.. until she'd sent everything from her house in the US. She arrived 2 months later and stressed herself out.. because of the hassle of unboxing everything. All the boxes were in her room.
