Of course it's just a compound word, not something you'd find in a dictionary. We simply mash words together without spaces. The literal translation would be 'Christmastreecannon'. Similarly, a pumpkin catapult would be a 'Kürbiskatapult'. Even though it isn't an existing word, everyone would immediately know what it means. The really funny part is that there's basically no limit to how many words you can combine. It just has to make sense. The barrel of this cannon would be a Weihnachtsbaumkanonenrohr. If you wanted to note its diameter on a technical data sheet, you could label it 'Weihnachtsbaumkanonenrohrdurchmesser'. If it has a tolerance, that would be the 'Weihnachtsbaumkanonenrohrdurchmessertoleranz'. That's technically correct German, but any reasonable person would start adding hyphens. You can optionally insert them in uncommon compound words. But for anyone who didn't know this bit of trivia yet: there was once a bill called 'Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz'. It's no longer in force, but that really was the name of the law. Literal translation: 'Beeflabelingmonitoringtasktransferlaw'. They usually used the abbreviation 'RflEttÜAÜG', which is obviously much easier to pronounce.
